How might we provide users an immersive search and discovery experience for celebrity, movies, music, tv and sports queries.
Why?
The Firefox yahoo search deal default search experience for Firefox required a hero feature that took advantage of existing data and provided an enhanced search user experience.
Research
Query analysis revealed that the top searched query categories were entertainment, celebrity, sports and music. For these top categories the main user intent was image and video. Metrics revealed that image and video modules had the highest engagement.
Hypothesis
Providing the answer that user is searching for (in this case image and video results for high multimedia intent queries) on top of the page will lead to a positive user experience.
